The pages of history will indicate that the major events of 1955 America include the opening of the first McDonald’s restaurant, West Germany joining NATO, RCA’s $35,000-contract offer to Elvis Presley and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. leading the Montgomery bus boycott.
